How to set up Eudora light for multiple users ============================================= Run eul306.exe ( or later version ) and follow the standard instructions. - ie 32 bit win 95 software - accept the default locations for the software - only install the Qualcomm Purevoice stuff if you really want it (most people dont) DO NOT run Eudora at this point. create a new directory on the PC where you already run your backup and keep your personal documents. eg c:\My Documents\fred\eu_mail for win 95 or c:\WINNT\Profiles\fred\Personal\eu_mail for NT Now create a shortcut to the installed eudora on your desktop. The easiest way is to navigate to c:\eudora and drag a copy of eudora.exe onto the desktop whilst holding down shift and ctrl. Rename this icon with whatever name is appropriate. Select the icon with the right mouse and click properties. On the shortcut tab, make two changes in "Target" add the new directory you created earlier to the application eg C:\EUDORA\eudora.exe c:\My Documents\fred\eu_mail Change "Start In" to be the directory created earlier eg c:\My Documents\fred\eu_mail Now use this new icon to start eudora. You will be prompted to configure the software in the normal way. (rtfm) For the next user repeat the steps from after the install. - Tip, If you feel confident, you can copy the eudora.ini, from user1 to user2's directory and then edit that to save time with the configuration. - You may also want to remove eudora from the start menu and replace it with copys of the icons created above to save confusion. Also Tip, In advanced networking you can cause eudora to automatically dial and drop the line when checking mail. To use this to best effect turn off "immediate send", check that "send on check" is on. Although this appears to be expensive as is causes short <1 charge period calls, I have found it is by far the easiest way to use the tool. - Ammusingly, This means, you can even start up both users at the same time as long as they check mail at different times.
